Mette Lykke 来自丹麦日德兰(Jutland) 一个名为Ringkobing 的小镇。他毕业于丹麦Aarhus University 政治系。毕业后,他加入了国际知名的管理顾问公司麦肯锡(McKinsey & Company)。

Mette 是一位热爱马术运动的人,因此当他在麦肯锡的工作陷入瓶颈时,他就开始思考要不要出来创业,做一个和运动有关的App。
同时,一位信任他的客户也想要挖角Mette 到他们公司上班。因此,Mette 需要在做自己喜欢的事,与更稳定的生活中选择。
到客户公司上班的好处很多,Mette 不但可以继续穿他的套装,还可以享受公司提供的各种福利。包括提供他一辆车。但是,加入大企业就代表Mette 还是在体制内工作,无法产生巨大的影响。
无法下决定的Mette 询问了母亲和麦肯锡同事的意见。他母亲觉得当然要选择有配车的公司。而麦肯锡的同事则认为创业会导致Mette 已知的世界崩溃!

虽然Mette 心里非常渴望创业,但还是因为它的不确定性而非常犹豫。有一天,他在纽约的街头等红绿灯过马路时,一位陌生人递了一张明信片给他,没有说任何话就离开了。
那张明信片上写着「就算是最疯狂的梦想,也只触及我们潜能的表面」 (Whatever our wildest dreams may be, they only scratch the surface of what's possible.)。
Mette 认为这是一个征兆,提醒他在听从别人的建议时,不要忽略自己的心中的想法。于是,他毅然放弃了稳定的工作,投入他完全不熟悉的运动App产业。
2007 年,Mette 和两位麦肯锡的同事一起创办了社群运动软体Endomondo。
2. 不断的坚持,最后才有成功的机会
创办Endomondo 时,Mette 的目的是要打造一个「让运动更有趣」的App。因此,他和团队最初的想法是模仿那时最热门的App:Facebook。
他们计画Endomondo 能让用户纪录运动的历程,例如:时间、距离、卡路里等,然后再将这些数据分享到社群网站,让朋友可以互相比较。
当Mette 发现有一位朋友用GPS 技术来找车时,他马上就决定将这个技术加入到Endomondo 的核心功能中。Mette 的想法很简单,就是运用GPS 将任何和距离相关的运动(跑步、骑脚踏车、马术等)精准的纪录下来,而且还可以搭配地图将整个运动的过程展现给用户和他的朋友们看。
可是在2007年,只有Nokia的手机有配备GPS(连在2007年6月推出的iPhone都没有这个功能)。Mette发现他们采用的技术太「超前」了。因此,他们在路跑活动中宣传Endomondo时,很常要告诉来询问的人:「等你换了最新的手机再来找我们吧!」

当时,使用Endomondo 的人非常少,有时甚至连续好几天都没有任何新用户注册,让Mette 感到非常失望。但他没有放弃,因为他相信只要GPS 开始普及,人们就会开始使用这个App。
这个状况一直持续到了2008年7月,Apple推出配有GPS功能的iPhone 3G以及App Store后才开始好转。但公司并没开始获利,Mette又持续坚持了6年Endomondo才转亏为盈。
2015 年,拥有2000 万用户的Endomondo 被Under Armour 看中。当时Under Armour 想要扩展它在欧洲的知名度,而源自于丹麦的Endomondo 是最佳的选择。因此,Under Armour 花了8500万美元收购了Endomondo。
33 岁的Mette 在经过8 年的坚持后,忽然成为了千万富翁。
3. 做自己有热忱的事,才能够发挥最大效益
在出售Endomondo 后,Mette 继续留在公司内工作。2016 年8 月,他去了丹麦首都哥本哈根。在公车上,他朋友为他介绍了一个名为「Too Good To Go」的「惜食」App。
Mette 之前从来没有想到「浪费食物」会造成那么多环境问题。在花了一些时间了解这个议题后,他决定要协助改善这个现象。
为Mette 介绍Too Good To Go 的朋友正好认识创办人,因此介绍他们认识。一开始Mette 只是想要成为投资人,但几个月后,他决定要离开Endomondo,成为Too Good To Go 的执行长。
关于这个决定Mette 说:「在一个地方呆了十年后,我已准备面对其他的挑战。」
加入Too Good To Go后,他发现这家新创的愿景非常清晰,就是要解决「浪费食物」的问题。清晰的愿景也吸引了一群像Mette一样有热忱的员工加入,而这些员工正是公司快速成长的关键。
Too Good To Go的商业模式是要创造「三赢」;即是商家、消费者、以及平台商(Too Good To Go)都能够各取所需。贩卖食物的商家可以将即期或卖不完的食物上架到Too Good To Go平台,然后用较便宜的价钱售卖。而消费者可以在平台上选择自己需要的食物,然后自行前往商家所定的地方领取。

在这样的模式下,商家可以将原本要报废的食物卖出。消费者则能够用较低的价钱购买需要的食物。而Too Good To Go也能够在每笔消费中抽成。这样不但每个人都开心,而且也能够达到Too Good To Go所期望的「生产多少就消耗多少」的目标。
靠着一班有热忱的员工,Too Good To Go 迅速成长。Endomondo 花了三年的时间才累积到一百万名用户,但Too Good To Go 只用了15 个月达到了这样的成绩!
目前Too Good To Go是欧洲成长最快的App之一。它拥有1800万名用户,而且还以每天45,000名的速度成长。

Her experience is being shared by shoppers across the UK who are facing “shelf shock” on almost all types of groceries. Research by Which? has found price rises of more than 20% on some goods, while official figures this week showed many staples have recorded double-digit increases.

Which? said the items that had recorded the biggest price rises included a 500g box of Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut corn flakes cereal, which had gone up by 21.4% at Tesco, Asda’s own-label closed cup mushrooms (250g) which were up by the same percentage and Cathedral City extra mature cheddar (350g) which rose by 21.1% at Ocado.

The consumer group said it had examples of shrinkflation – where products were smaller but selling for the same price – and that between December 2021 and February this year the availability of some value ranges had been more limited than previously.

Supermarket value ranges came under the spotlight in January when the food campaigner Jack Monroe said some shoppers were experiencing huge price inflation because they were unable to access the cheapest products at their local shops.

The Guardian spoke to several shoppers in the Sainsbury’s in Whitechapel about how the increased cost of food prices has affected them.

Sharon Adams, who is 37 and works in merchandise, says that the increased cost of food prices has really shocked her.
